Map Link
Overview
Shafer's Map Link program works in conjunction with your Shafer’s Dispatch Board and a GPS vehicle tracking system, providing a way to locate technicians and displaying calls by customer address on an easy-to-read map. From the board, Map Link allows the dispatchers to click on any technician's name and get their precise location (picture at left). They may also choose to display a selected customers call location, all the calls for one technician on a selected day or the trail for a selected technician.
Shafer's interfaces with third-party mapping software. The calls are displayed on the map and are designated by a house icon. The calls are numbered in the order they appear on your the technicians schedule . Street Wizard tool bars provides various functions for zooming, etc. The best part of Shafers GPS Vehicle Tracking, is its one-time cost with no monthly charge or 3rd party go-throughs.

· Show Service Call
Using Shafer's Show This Call option will automatically display a house icon on the map. Depending on the status of the call, you will see a green house (open call), orange house (dispatched call), red house (arrived) or gray house (complete). This screen is also similar to what is displayed for a Shafer's Mobile Office technician when the View Map option is used.

· Map Link Exception Report
The Map Link Exception Report assists with maintaining security over your company’s vehicles. This vehicle tracking report allows back office personnel to analyze the GPS readings taken before or after working hours. These readings are logged as “exceptions” because they are readings that do not correspond with the technicians work load. So, any readings taken between the hours of 4pm and 7 am the next day, for example, will show on this report giving a clear picture of if the vehicle was over utilized after business hours.
