Q: What are the hardware requirements for running Shafer's Field Service software?
A: For your network server, the minimum hardware requirements are a Pentium IV, 2.4 GHz
processor with a 60 gigabyte hard drive, 512 mb RAM, 1 parallel port, 1 USB port, CD-rom drive, VGA monitor, a 10/100 network card, 16 megabyte AGP or PCI video card and backup system. For the workstations, Shafer's recommends a Pentium IV, 2.4 GHz
processor with a 40 gigabyte hard drive, as well as the components listed for the server.

Q: Can your system run on a network?
A: Yes. A networked version will allow multiple users to access any portion of Shafer's Service System whenever they wish. This allows any number of users to process invoices at the same time, share data files, plus many other time saving features. If you plan on accommodating multiple users in your office, then the networked version of Shafer's is for you.

Q: What kind of network system do you recommend for best performance?
A: We recommend running on a Windows 2000/2003 or NT server for optimum performance.

Q: Why is your Mobile Office handheld computer considered superior to a PDA?
A: Shafer's Mobile Office program uses state-of-the-art handheld PC's, not small PDA's. These handheld, touch screen computers have full Windows XP functionality that will allow you to use our software in addition to a full Microsoft Office suite. You can also use the wireless modem to connect to the internet and receive email. Our wireless connection also provides a constant communication link between the field and the back office, allowing you to pass information back and forth in real-time.
Our software was designed for a larger-sized, touch screen display that is easy for the technician to see and use. This larger, full color screen also allows technicians to present the customer with a professional presentation, leaving them with a feeling of confidence and trust in your organization. Being able to immediately create and print your invoices out in the field will also give them the impression that your company is leaps and bounds ahead of your competition.
