AVL Alerts (Misuse Reporting)

Shafer's Misuse Reporting and Alerts

Overview

Within Shafer's AVL system are setups that will allow you to do more than just monitor where the technician is located at any given time. Misuse reporting was designed to let management know, via alert notifications, whenever a technicians are suspected of fraudulent or unauthorized activities. Currently Shafer's provides alerts for speeding, long stops unrelated to service calls, unauthorized use after-hours and violation of geo-fenced areas (zone restrictions). Whenever a user is notified of an alert, the follow-up screen is updated. Simply click on the alert from within the follow-up dialog box to be taken directly to a map display of the violation.

· Unauthorized Vehicle Use

These settings detect whether or not the technician should be driving the vehicle (based on the technician’s master file day/hour setups). When the technician finishes for the day and/or logs out, the AVL system will log the final coordinate. When the technician begins work and/or logs in the next morning, another coordinate check is done. If the vehicle traveled a distance greater than three miles after hours, an alert will be sent to supervisor. When the supervisor is alerted, a single click will display the map with a crumb-trail of the violation.

· Speed

Set up the maximum posted speed limit in your area and let the map show you every place the technician violates that speed. Take this one step further and use the speed notification option to alert the technician’s supervisor the instant the technician exceeds a specific limit. This may be the same as the maximum posted limit or can be set higher to indicate “reckless driving” activity (95-100 mph).

· Unauthorized Long Stops

Whenever a technician makes a stop longer than five minutes and is not on a scheduled service call, the system is notified and the stop will be displayed on the crumb-trail map. Longer unscheduled stops will alert the supervisor directly via Shafer’s Follow-up screen.

· GEO-fencing

If your company wishes to impose zone restrictions for vehicles, geo-fencing setups are perfect for you. Use the map to set up a restricted area and mark the radius of that zone. This feature is also helpful for establishing a radius around unauthorized “landmarks” such as bars or gambling establishments. An alert will also be sent whenever a vehicle is inside the unauthorized geo-fenced area for too long. If a vehicle drives through a zone without stopping, no violation is recorded.
